I've learned through Face Reading and the Holistic You by Roger Bezanis that vital digestive organs such as the kidneys, Liver and Colon are attached to specific areas of the face and contribute to dramatic changes in appearances in our face. An example is the area under your eyes are connected to your kidneys, so if you start getting puffy under your eyes it's probably do to the fact that your kidneys are sending you a message hat they are in trouble and need attention probably in the form of water or detoxing.
