Just like you can exercise your arms and stomach to tighten up your muscles in those areas, you can do face exercises to tighten the muscles in your face. While you may not realize it, you’ve got lots of muscles underneath the skin in your face. As you age, those muscles sag a bit and lose their firmness. This is partially what leads to sagging jowls and chubby cheeks. Face exercises partially reverse the effects of aging in order to restore a youthful appearance in your face in a completely natural, healthy way.
Sagging tummies can be hidden underneath shirts or sweaters, as can flabby arms, but you have to wear your face day in and day out. If your face has started to sag or get chubby over time, a natural consequence of aging, you may feel self-conscious about your looks and want to know if there is a way to make your face tighten up again without having to get expensive plastic surgery. There is, and by practicing a few face exercises every day, you can restore the youth and vigor your face once had without going under the knife.
Besides being a natural way to tighten your face, face exercises are also completely amazing when combined with certain diet changes. They do take a little time every day to perform, just like any exercise. This is a great benefit when compared to the thousands of dollars it would cost to have plastic surgery. Even though a face lift would be a fast solution to a double chin and huge cheeks, it would be expensive and cause some harm to your body.
Let’s face it: cutting open your face and stretching your skin isn’t exactly the most natural solution to aging, and usually people have to get several facelifts during their lives if they want to keep that firm look. Over time, people with facelifts look unnatural and even kind of scary. Using face exercises is a natural way to genuinely tighten your face without losing your individual features in the process. You’ll only look more like yourself with these facial exercises, not some stretch-faced celebrity.
How do I do Face exercises?
Doing face exercises is actually an easy process. There are several exercises you can try depending on what area of the face you want to tighten. While PerfectCheekBones does concentrate on the cheeks and jawline area, my other site the Face Fitness Center does cover the rest of the areas of the face like the forehead, eyes and eyebrows as well as the mouth and neck.
Here are some you can try for your problem areas. These are just some examples so you get an idea of what they are about. Of course when you follow any of my face exercise videos it will be easier to do the exercises.
Jawline and Double Chin
Our exercises for the lower face concentrate on the bring the jawline back to life and removing a double chin. The exercises, combined with special meal plans, completely eradicate that double chin. Here is a quick exercise for this area…First lift your chin up to tighten your neck muscles. Then press your back teeth together, leaving a small gap between your front teeth. Press the tip of your tongue against the base of your lower front teeth. Your mouth will be slightly open as you do this step. Hold this position for 10-12 counts, feeling the burn under your chin and along the front of your neck.
To work out your forehead, place your fingers on your forehead above your eyebrows so that your fingers are parallel to your eyebrows. Arch your fingers so they match the shape of your eyebrow. Then, pull your fingers down toward your face while you try to push your forehead and eyebrows up (like you would if you were very surprised). Each of these is basically like a mini pushup. Hold each repetition in place for 30 seconds.
This exercise basically firms up your eyelids so they don’t sag as much. You do this by simply closing your eyelids as hard as you can. This isn’t a squint—don’t mash your eyes closed—but stretch your upper eyelid over your eye and move that one only, keeping your lower eyelid in place.
To work your nostrils, flare them while causing your nose to wrinkle. If you want to prevent wrinkles from forming from the folds, place a finger along each side of your nose starting from the inner corner of your eyes going down your face to the corners of your mouth. By placing your fingers on your face during this exercise, you create tension and have a better workout.
Moving further down the face, you can exercise your lips by pressing them together. Don’t purse your lips, though. You can make this exercise more effective by tightening the corners of your mouth as you press a fingertip on each side. As you hold your mouth in this position, move the corners of your mouth in small up and down motions for several repetitions (usually people do this for 30 seconds at a time). Continue doing this, creating resistance by using your lip and facial muscles, until you feel a slight burn in your face.
How do I Know My Face Exercises are Working?
When you do normal arm or leg exercises, you’ll feel a strong burn or a certain tiredness associated with exercise. In a smaller degree, you’ll feel the same thing when you’re doing these face exercises correctly. You generally won’t work your muscle to the point where you have lactic acid buildup afterwards (the buildup that makes your biceps feel sore for days after working them out for the first time in a while, for example), but you can have this result if you work your face a lot.
Ideally, as you perform these face exercises, you’ll visualize the energy flowing through your face and guiding natural muscle movements. Remember, you’re doing these exercises because you want to look more naturally youthful, so building up weird muscles won’t help you accomplish your goal.
Another good way to see if your face exercises are actually working is to take photographs of your face every few days. Compare the photograph of the first day with a photograph of your face after doing these exercises for 5 days a week, 10-15 minutes per day, for about 6 weeks. This is what I encourage all of my customers of the Face Fitness Formula to do. If you do full face workouts, you should see a noticeable difference in your eyebrows, your jaw line and jowls, and your mouth. As you exercise your mouth, it will start to turn up into a natural smile. You won’t even have to try to look happy about your success!
There are a lot of factors that affect how your face looks as you age—facial fat, dental health and the natural loss of some bone mass over time—and you can’t help each of these. However by doing these face exercises daily, you can keep some of the youthful appearance of your face and look younger even while you age gracefully. The face workouts and exercise doesn’t involve exercise equipment, so you can try to improve your jaw line, double chin, chubby cheeks and neck muscles with them and immediately build face muscle. Start trying these face exercise secrets today and see how you can look better in just a few weeks.
